Extroversion and Conscientiousness Predict Deteriorating Job Outcomes During the COVID-19 Transition to Enforced Remote Work

At the beginning of COVID-19 pandemic, organizations around world rapidly transitioned to enforced remote work. We examined relationship between personality and within-person changes in five job outcomes (self-reported performance, engagement, satisfaction, burnout, turnover intentions) during this transition. conducted a four-wave longitudinal study, from May August 2020, employees working home due COVID-19, N = 974. On average, self-reported performance decreased over course whereas other remained stable. There was also significant between-person variability outcomes. Extroversion conscientiousness, two traits traditionally associated with desirable outcomes, were deteriorating time. Extroverted conscientious became less productive, engaged, satisfied their jobs; extroverted reported increasing burnout. These results add our understanding how predicts well-being, intentions pandemic.
